What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember your actions and preferences over time — for example, keeping you logged in, remembering your theme choice, or measuring how visitors use the site. Cookies are not programs and cannot execute code on your device.

AgentAtlas uses cookies only when strictly necessary or when you've explicitly consented. We do not use cookies for cross-site tracking, behavioral advertising, or building profiles of your activity across the web. This policy explains each cookie we use, why it exists, and how long it stays on your device.

Types of cookies we use

We categorize our cookies into four types, following the standard industry classification:

1. Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are required for the Site to function correctly. Without them, features like the dark/light theme toggle and mobile navigation menu wouldn't work. You cannot opt out of these cookies without breaking core Site functionality.

2. Preference cookies

These cookies remember choices you make (such as your theme preference) so we don't have to ask you again on every visit. They are optional — disabling them just means you'll need to re-set your preferences each time.

3. Analytics cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it. We use Plausible Analytics, which is privacy-focused and does not use cookies for tracking. We do not run Google Analytics or any cookie-based analytics tool.

4. Advertising cookies

If we add display advertising (e.g., Google AdSense) in the future, the advertising provider may set cookies to serve relevant ads. We will not enable advertising cookies without your explicit opt-in consent, and we will provide a clear way to opt out at any time. As of June 2026, we do not run any advertising on the Site.

Cookies currently in use

Cookie name Purpose Type Duration Provider
agentatlas-theme Stores your light/dark theme preference Preference 1 year AgentAtlas (first-party)
__cf_bm Cloudflare bot detection and security Strictly necessary 30 minutes Cloudflare
cf_clearance Cloudflare clearance after security check Strictly necessary 1 year Cloudflare

We do not currently set any analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies. Plausible Analytics (our analytics provider) runs without cookies.

Managing your cookie preferences

You have several options for managing cookies:

  • Browser settings. All modern browsers let you block, delete, or alert you to cookies. See your browser's help documentation: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge.
  • Theme preference. If you don't want us to remember your theme choice, you can clear the agentatlas-theme cookie from your browser. The Site will still work — you'll just need to toggle the theme manually each visit.
  • Opting out of advertising cookies (when applicable). If we add advertising in the future, you'll be able to opt out via a consent dialog. For industry opt-outs, visit aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.com (EU).

Please note: blocking strictly necessary cookies (like Cloudflare's security cookies) may prevent you from accessing the Site or cause it to function incorrectly.

Local storage and similar technologies

In addition to cookies, we use HTML5 local storage to remember your theme preference on devices that support it. Local storage is similar to cookies but stores data directly on your device without sending it to our servers on every request. You can clear local storage from your browser's developer tools or via the same privacy settings that manage cookies.

Third-party cookies

Some third-party services we use may set their own cookies:

  • Cloudflare sets security cookies as described above.
  • Google Fonts does not set cookies when serving fonts, but Google may log the request. See Google's cookie policy.
  • Plausible Analytics does not use cookies.

If we add features that introduce new third-party cookies (e.g., embedded videos, social share buttons, advertising), we will update this policy and seek your consent before enabling them.

Do Not Track signals

We respect Do Not Track (DNT) signals. If your browser sends a DNT signal, we do not set any non-essential cookies. Since we don't use tracking cookies by default, the practical effect is minimal — but we want to be explicit that we honor the signal.

Updates to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of cookies changes. When we add new cookies, we'll update the table above and, for non-essential cookies, seek your consent before setting them. The "Effective" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
